128 Captives of Yemeni Army Released and Return to Sana’a

Head of the National Committee for Prisoners Affairs Abdulqader Al-Mortada said, on Thursday, that the Saudi deal is incomplete, pointing out that it is a preliminary response to the initiatives launched by Sana’a.

Al-Mortada said that 128 prisoners of the aggression’s captives have been received from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and released by the Saudi authorities.

He stressed that the Sana’a government had put forward many initiatives and released more than 500 prisoners and detainees unilaterally on humanitarian grounds.

Al-Mortada added, “we have received the lists of captives and confirmed the names of 128, but for the rest of the 72 names were not found,” pointing out that Saudi Arabia has tens of thousands of prisoners of various nationalities.

He added that this step is good, hoping that it will be followed by steps and that the agreement signed in Sweden will be implemented by all parties and this step will be a prelude to other steps.

Regarding the cases of released prisoners, al-Mortada said, “unfortunately, there are very critical health cases, some of them disabled, including many amputees and also a lot of wounded and handicapped, noting that there will be medical procedures to examine all prisoners”.

This afternoon, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) facilitated the return of 128 prisoners from Saudi enemy prisons in Khamis Mushayt to Yemen.

The ICRC sees this event as a positive step, hopes that it will cause more detainees to be released and repatriated.
