Al Sabeen hospital director confirms the cessation of support of organizations

Magda Al-Khatib, Director of the Al Sabeen Hospital, said, in a statement, that the World Health Organization (WHO) withdrew its support of the diphtheria center in the hospital. Diphtheria is one of the most dangerous diseases that spread during the aggression and siege. And WHO stopped supporting the center last April and did not even bother to inform the hospital, causing great confusion.

She added that the United Nations Population Fund, which supports the obstetrics and gynecology department, announced the withdrawal of its support within two days without prior notice.

She pointed out that the UNICEF organization, which supports the children’s department, has not completely fulfilled any of its obligations towards us, since March.

She stated that the hospital suffers a significant accumulation of debt with the contracting companies due to the organization’s breach of their obligations without specifying their new position.

It is noteworthy that the Al Sabeen Maternity Hospital is the largest Yemeni hospital that provides services to women and children. Its stoppage will cause tens of thousands of patients, women, and children, to be deprived of health services, and lead to a catastrophe.
