FM Condemns French Insults of Islam, Prophet Mohammed (PBUH)

Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned in the strongest terms statements made by French President Emmanuel Macron, which provoked Muslims around the world and the re-publication of the cartoons insulting to the Prophet Mohammed, under the pretext of freedom of expression.

In a statement, on Saturday, the Ministry affirmed that the repeated insult to Islam and the Prophet Mohammed is a provocation and harms the feelings of more than a billion and a half Muslims, which will negatively affect France’s relations with the Islamic world.

The statement considered this a dangerous step that would ignite the spirit of hatred, violence, and enmity, and jeopardize all efforts to promote peaceful and civilized coexistence among the peoples of the world.

The statement pointed out that this offense certainly will not affect the status of the Islamic religion, which is the religion of peace, tolerance, and love, nor the greatness of the Prophet Mohammed, who came as a mercy to all people, rather, it will undermine France and its position, showing it as a source of hatred, extremism, and moral decay.

It called on Islamic states and peoples to stand firm against these repeated offenses to Islam and the Prophet and to boycott goods of anyone insults the Islamic religion and its sanctities.

The statement also called on the international community to condemn these statements and reckless and unbalanced behavior, as they stir up hatred and incites violence and the speedy adoption of binding international law criminalizing insulting religious symbols and sanctities.
