Iran denies conducting direct negotiations with America
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh revealed on Sunday the fact that direct negotiations are being held between the Islamic Republic and the United States.
Zadeh said, “There is no truth to the news of the negotiations as announced.” He added, “There have been no direct negotiations between the two sides.”
He indicated that one of his country’s priorities is the issue of releasing Iranian prisoners in the United States.
Messages were received from the new American government through the Swiss embassy in its capacity as the custodian of American interests and some foreign ministers of other countries to announce their readiness to follow up on this issue, according to IRNA.
Khatibzadeh stressed that his country’s policy is to work for the release of prisoners in the United States. He added, “We are ready for this issue … and we did not have any negotiations with it.”
