Al-Shayef: The movement of Sana’a airport throughout the years of aggression is not equal to the movement of two months in the normal situation

The Director General of Sana’a International Airport, Khaled Al-Shayef, confirmed that the movement of Sana’a Airport during the eight years of aggression is not equal to the movement of only two months in the normal situation in 2014.
Al-Shayef said in a statement to Al-Masirah TV that the number of commercial flights to and from Sana’a Airport over the past 8 years did not exceed 1,276 flights, compared to 20,000 flights during 2014 only.
He added that the number of passengers during the eight years of aggression did not exceed 162,000 passengers, compared to 1,900,000 passengers during the year 2014 only.
He pointed out that the amount of air freight during the eight years of aggression did not exceed 721 tons, compared to 16,177 tons during the year 2014 only.
Al-Shayef said that during the year 2014, Sana’a International Airport was receiving about 50 flights of 14 carriers daily, and 5,000 passengers arrived and departed from it daily.
He added that the health sector is the most affected by the closure of the airport since the beginning of the aggression, pointing out that the flights that took place during the armistice periods did not provide the actual needs of the Yemeni citizen, especially the patients
