Transport Ministry: ‘Yemenia’ Claims Unfounded, Flight Suspension Reveals Aggressors’ Insincerity
In a recent development that has sent shockwaves through the region, a responsible source within Yemen’s Ministry of Transport has revealed that the suspension of Yemenia Airways flights via Sana’a International Airport is indicative of the lack of seriousness of the aggression countries in their commitment towards peace. This move is seen as a blatant disregard for all efforts made to restore stability in the region.
The source confirmed that this action underscores the criminal insistence on maintaining the siege and exacerbating the suffering of the Yemeni people, particularly patients and travelers who rely heavily on these services.
In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the source highlighted that what was published about the management of Yemenia Airways in the occupied city of Aden is a clear sign of the aggression countries’ lack of commitment towards peace. The source criticized Yemenia Airways for positioning itself as a tool in the hands of these countries, thereby facilitating the continuation of the siege, increasing the suffering of the Yemeni people, and leading to the closure of Sana’a airport.
The source further highlighted that the company has been propagating claims that are far from the truth. It has assumed responsibility, on behalf of the aggressive nations, for the crime of enforcing a siege and intensifying the suffering of the Yemeni people. This has led to them being deprived of their right to travel and access humanitarian flights.
The source at the Ministry of Transport refuted claims by the company’s management in occupied Aden that company balances are frozen or prohibited. He labeled these claims as false and pure slander. He provided evidence that all salaries and dues of company employees are being disbursed in all regions of Yemen from company balances in Sana’a, which amount to two million dollars monthly. Furthermore, the source also revealed that approximately 36 million dollars have been disbursed from company balances in Sana’a to cover operating expenses during the previous period.
The source also disclosed that $10 million was disbursed from company balances in Sana’a for purchasing a new plane (A320), according to understandings between those concerned with managing Yemenia Airways.
The source expressed strong condemnation towards the reports about the company’s balances in Sana’a, which were stated to be around 80 million dollars. He described these reports as a deliberate attempt to obscure the reality that the company’s balances in its other accounts, located in Aden and overseas, surpass 100 million dollars. It was previously agreed upon to disburse funds from all company accounts according to predetermined rates.
Moreover, the source at the Ministry of Transport condemned using stopping flights as a manipulation tool and exploiting operations from and to Sana’a airport. This measure affects the Yemeni people and contradicts with establishing a national carrier for all people. It contradicts with what was stated in a statement issued by neutrality, humanitarian operation, and commercial operation.
The Ministry of Transport is committed to implementing an agreement with the management in Aden by disbursing from a company account in a way that preserves company money and ensures safe disbursement procedures at a rate of 60% from Sana’a and 40% from Aden against continuing operations from Sana’a airport to Jordan, opening destinations Egypt and India to serve needs of Yemeni people and alleviate their suffering.
The source concluded by stating that stopping flights is seen as manipulation, exploiting suffering of Yemeni people, politicizing a bad situation for a company supposed to be neutral as a national carrier. He held Aden management and aggression countries responsible for all repercussions as a result of these practices.
