Yemen Asserts Commitment to International Peace and Maritime Safety, Excludes Israeli, American, and British Ships

In a recent statement, Yemen’s Minister of Transport in the caretaker government, Abdulwahab Al-Durra, affirmed Yemen’s commitment to maintaining international peace and security, as well as the safety of maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea. However, this commitment excludes Israeli, American, and British ships.

Speaking to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Transport Minister clarified that there is no threat from Yemen to ships crossing the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Arabian and Red Seas, except for Israeli ships or those heading to occupied ports. Ships from the United States and Britain, the two countries of aggression, are also excluded due to their ongoing aggression against Yemen.

Al-Durra pointed out that the cessation of operations against Zionist ships is linked to the cessation of aggression and the lifting of the siege on Gaza. He noted that the decline in the rate of ships passing through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal is due to the militarization of the Red Sea by America and Britain, their violation of the sovereignty of the countries bordering the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and their continuous warnings to ships.

He stated, “The Yemeni decision to prevent Israeli ships from passing through the Red Sea has been clear since its announcement last November due to the aggression, massacres, and genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. American and British ships were added to this decision after the blatant and illegal aggression on our country.”

Minister Al-Durra affirmed Yemen’s right to respond to the American-British aggression, indicating that Yemen is committed to its humanitarian and religious position alongside its brothers in Gaza by preventing Israeli ships until the aggression on the Gaza Strip is stopped, the siege is lifted, and humanitarian aid, food, medicine, and fuel are allowed to enter.
