The government media office in Gaza announced on Saturday that the number of martyred fellow journalists since October 7 had risen to 158, after five additional journalists were martyred in different areas of the Strip.

The office said in a brief statement: “The number of journalist martyrs has risen to 158 male and female journalists, since the beginning of the Zionist genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, after the death of 5 journalists.”

The 5 recently martyred journalists: – Director of “Deep Shot” Media Production Company, Saadi Madoukh. – The journalist in the same company, Adeeb Sukkar.
– Journalist at the Palestine Media Agency, Amjad Jahjouh.
– Wafaa Abu Dabaan, a programmer and presenter on the Islamic University of Gaza Radio
– Journalist at the Palestine Media Agency, Rizq Abu Ashkian.

It is noteworthy that the government media office and human rights organizations have warned, more than once, that the Israeli occupation army, since the beginning of the war on Gaza, “deliberately targets Palestinian journalists to prevent the reporting of the crimes it commits in Gaza.”

“The deadliest for journalists” Data and statistics from the International Committee to Protect Journalists (a New York-based non-governmental organization) show that the war on Gaza has become “the bloodiest for journalists” since the committee began documenting the killings of journalists around the world in 1992.

The International Center for Journalists (a non-governmental organization based in Washington) announced last February that the war on Gaza witnessed the highest levels of violence against journalists in 30 years, and called on the occupying state to “stop killing journalists and investigate incidents of their killing at the hands of its forces.”
