The European Union “strongly” condemned, yesterday, Wednesday, the statements of the extremist Minister of Finance of the occupation, Bezalel Smotrich, in which he claimed that “killing two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip by starvation may be just and moral” to return the Israeli prisoners from the Strip.
This came in a statement issued by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
Borrell said that the European Union “strongly condemns the recent statements by Smotrich” which he made on Monday during his participation in a conference in the settlement of Yad Binyamin, in central “Israel”.
He considered Smotrich’s statement “extremely shameful”. Borrell stressed that “deliberately starving civilians is a war crime”.
He considered Smotrich’s statement “once again proves his contempt for international law and the basic principles of humanity”.
For the 18th year, Israel has been besieging the Gaza Strip, and its current war has forced about two million of its population, numbering about 2.3 million Palestinians, to flee in catastrophic conditions, with a severe and deliberate shortage of food, water and medicine.
