Hebrew media revealed massive and unprecedented damage to the forest wealth in northern occupied Palestine, as a result of Hezbollah operations, since the opening of the Lebanese support front for the Gaza Strip and its resistance, on October 8, 2023.

The operations on the northern front led to the burning of more than 189 thousand dunams in northern occupied Palestine, affecting forests, woodlands, herbaceous plants, and agricultural lands, according to the admission of the Israeli newspaper “Maariv”.

The area of burned areas in the north has increased by more than 200% since the beginning of the year compared to previous fires, which exceeds the damage caused by the resistance’s response to the Israeli aggression on Lebanon in July 2006, and the “Carmel” fire in 2010, according to data from the occupation’s Nature and Parks Authority.

An Israeli environmental scientist working for the authority confirmed in an interview with the Israeli newspaper that “Israel has never seen such fires before,” as while the region used to witness fires that did not reach thousands of dunams per year, this year approximately 200,000 dunams were burned.

According to Maariv, most of the affected area is located in the Golan Heights, where the grassy vegetation is more flammable.

The area of the fires is estimated at approximately 114,000 dunams, while in the Galilee, approximately 74,000 dunams were burned, including 17,000 dunams of forests. Significant damage was caused to the Ramim Reserves in the Galilee Finger, 15,000 dunams were burned, 4,053 dunams in the Nahal Dishon Reserve, 3,000 dunams in the Yehudi Reserve, and 336 dunams in the Banias Reserve.
