The Palestinian Prisoners and Freed Prisoners Affairs Authority revealed, today, Sunday, the atrocities that prisoners are exposed to in the Zionist “Ofer” prison in the middle of the occupied West Bank, including physical and psychological torture, starvation, and medical neglect.

The authority said in a statement that its lawyers “were able to visit 15 Palestinian detainees in Ofer prison, west of Ramallah, and listened to their testimonies about the atrocities they are exposed to by the occupation prison administration.”

It quoted one of the detainees as saying, “The Ofer administration systematically uses the opening of the cells as a form of punishment, as the bound detainees are forced to stick their hands out of the opening of the cell, and the prison guards beat them severely.”

He added: “This type of physical torture has become the most prominent form of daily torture, without excluding any of the detainees, whether they are minors, sick or elderly.”

In the testimony of one of the prisoners whose legs were amputated (amputated before his arrest), he stated that “the detainees held with him in the cell were forced to carry him to reach the level of the cell opening, to pull his hands out of it, where they were beaten and bent (despite his disability).”

The prisoner continued in his testimony, according to the statement, that despite the fact that his legs were amputated, the prison administration forces him daily to get down from his bed to the floor and lie on his stomach, and this is repeated four times a day.

Other detainees stated that they “lost their ability to estimate time, because they are deprived of knowing the time, and they are prohibited from using tissues and soap.”

They added that “they are only allowed to shower every ten days, and the period available to each detainee is three minutes, in addition to the method of starvation.”

Since the outbreak of the Zionist war of extermination on the Gaza Strip, human rights organizations have confirmed the deterioration of conditions in Zionist prisons, especially in the notorious “Sde Teiman” in southern Israel.

Testimonies continue from Palestinian prisoners who have been subjected to violations and “atrocities” inside the prisons of the Zionist entity, including severe beatings, starvation, and sexual assault, in addition to deprivation of treatment and medical neglect.

The number of prisoners in the prisons of the Zionist enemy reaches 11,700, excluding the detainees from the Gaza Strip who are in camps affiliated with the “army” of the Zionist enemy, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Club.

Since the start of its ground operation in Gaza on October 27, 2023, the “army” of the Zionist enemy has arrested thousands of Palestinian civilians, including women, children, and workers in health and civil defense teams.

A small number of them were later released, showing signs of physical and psychological torture, after their weight decreased significantly, while detainees lost their focus and mental abilities as a result of that torture.

In parallel with the war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, the Zionist enemy “army” expanded its operations, and the settlers escalated their attacks in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, resulting in a total of 783 martyrs and about 6,300 wounded since October 7, 2023, according to official Palestinian data.
