The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned of a real famine threatening the lives of thousands of pregnant women in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli aggression.
In a post on its account on X platform, UNRWA referred to the humanitarian catastrophe resulting from the starvation and thirst policy pursued by the enemy entity in Gaza.
It confirmed that there are about 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza, and that the region is expected to witness 4,000 births next December.
The UN agency said that about 15,000 of these pregnant women may be on the brink of famine.
UNRWA pointed out that 2024 was the deadliest year for humanitarian workers, as 281 of them died worldwide, most of them UNRWA employees in Gaza.
