More than 6,600 academics, students and public figures in Belgium have signed an open letter calling on Belgian universities to end their cooperation with the Zionist entity due to the genocide in Gaza.
Among them are the Flemish Green Deputy Prime Minister in the outgoing Belgian federal government, Petra De Sutter, former VRT war correspondent Rudi Franks, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, and British film director Ken Loach.
The signatories to the letter said that “continuing business as usual means complicity in the greatest violation of international law of our time.”
“Since October 15, 2023, a week after the attacks of October 7, 800 scholars and experts in international law, conflict studies and genocide studies warned in a public statement about the danger of genocide,”
The letter read. “Today, more than a year later, everyone is witnessing how their warning, based on deep academic expertise and historical knowledge, has become a reality,” they added.
