Hamas Mourns 16 Martyrs from Its Political Leadership

The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas mourned 16 martyrs from its political leadership today, Friday, led by the head of the political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, and his successor, Yahya Sinwar.

The movement said in a statement: “With all verses of pride and honor, we mourn to the sons of our Palestinian people, to the masses of our Arab and Islamic nation, and to all the free people of the world, the martyrs of our great people, and the martyrs of our heroic resistance, led by its leaders whom God honored with the dignity of martyrdom, who ascended during the epic of the Flood of Al-Aqsa.”

It stated that its martyred leaders are Ismail Haniyeh (head of the political bureau of Hamas), Yahya Sinwar (head of the political bureau of Hamas), Saleh al-Arouri (deputy head of the political bureau of Hamas), Tayseer Ibrahim (head of the

Supreme Judicial Council of Hamas), and Osama al-Muzaini (head of the Shura Council of Hamas in the Gaza Strip).

Hamas pointed out that among the martyrs were six members of the political bureau: Rawhi Mushtaha, Sameh al-Sarraj, Marwan Issa, Zakaria Muammar, Jamila al-Shanti, and Jawad Abu Shamala, in addition to Sami Odeh, head of the Hamas General Security Service in the Gaza Strip.

It noted that among the martyred leaders were Mohammed Abu Askar, a member of Hamas administrative bureau in the Gaza Strip, Khaled al-Najjar and Yassin Rabie, members of the West Bank leadership, and Fathallah Sharif, a member of the leadership abroad and the leader of Hamas in Lebanon.

The movement affirmed in its statement its loyalty to its martyred leaders: “As the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas bids farewell to the martyrs of our people, our resistance, and its great leaders, it pledges to God Almighty and to our people and our nation to remain loyal to their blood, carrying their trust for which they were martyred until complete liberation, the expulsion of the enemy, the return of our people to their homeland, and the restoration of all their rights in their state with Jerusalem as its capital.”

Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced on Thursday evening the martyrdom of its commander-in-chief, Mohammed Deif, and six members of its military council, during the Battle of the Flood Al-Aqsa.

The military spokesman for Qassam Brigades, Abu Obeida, confirmed in a videotaped speech the martyrdom of Marwan Issa, deputy chief of staff, Ghazi Abu Tama’a, commander of the weapons and combat services department, Raed Thabet, commander of the human resources department, and Rafe Salama, commander of the Khan Yunis Brigade.

He pointed out that “Qassam” had previously announced during the genocide in Gaza the martyrdom of Ahmed al-Ghandour, commander of the northern Gaza Brigade, and Ayman Nofal, commander of the central Gaza Brigade.

Qassam spokesman indicated that the announcement came “after completing all necessary procedures, dealing with all security precautions imposed by the circumstances of the battle and the field, and after conducting the necessary verification and taking all relevant measures.”
