Hamas denied, on Friday, what was reported by the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, regarding the severance of communications or the suspension of talks related to a prisoner exchange deal.

The movement confirmed in a press statement that it remains at the heart of the negotiations, is following up responsibly and seriously with the mediators, and is still discussing the Witkoff proposal and the various ideas on the table, with the aim of achieving a prisoner exchange deal that secures the release of prisoners, ends the war, and achieves withdrawal.

The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted a source from the mediating countries as saying on Friday that Hamas has suspended all prisoner exchange negotiations with Israel due to the ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The Hebrew newspaper said: “The talks are currently frozen,” adding: “Even the proposal to release a limited number of detainees, allow aid in, and begin new negotiations has stalled, and the movement has again demanded a return to the original agreement.”

At dawn on Tuesday, Israel resumed its war of extermination in Gaza, reneging on a 58-day ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas, which began on January 19, 2025, and was brokered by Qatar and Egypt and supported by the United States.

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 162,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 14,000 missing.
