The media office of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed today, Tuesday, that no humanitarian or commercial supplies have entered the Gaza Strip for more than 7 weeks.
UNRWA said: “The closure of all crossing points has led to the worst humanitarian crisis in the Strip since October 2023, stressing that this is the longest aid blockade since the beginning of the war.”
It added: “We are witnessing an increasing scarcity of food, potable water, shelter, and medical care as a result of the Israeli blockade.”
UNRWA continued: “The prices of essential supplies have risen dramatically due to the ongoing blockade, indicating that many medical supplies have already run out, and we expect more to run out in the coming weeks.”
It stated: “Only 57% of essential medicines are available in quantities sufficient for one month or less, while medical services are suffering from a severe shortage of resources, with two-thirds of essential supplies expected to run out in less than two months.”
