Ministry of Fisheries announces opening of shrimp season in the Red Sea
The Ministry of Fisheries has announced the opening of the coastal shrimp fishing in the Yemeni waters in the Red Sea starting from the first of next September and until further notice.
In its decree, the Ministry obliged the Red Sea Fisheries Authority to monitor the nets used in shrimp fishing and to comply with the openings indicated in the law, which amount to (3.8) cm to give the stock an opportunity for renewal and sustainability.
According to the decree, fishing and dredging are prohibited in the lagoons and sensitive environments, as they are nursery areas for young shrimp and much marine life.
The decree emphasized the prohibition of the circulation and sale of aquaculture in other than landing centers and sites for sale in a public auction in accordance with the provisions of the Fishing Law of 2006.
