Parliament Speaker writes to UN Chief on repercussions of holding fuel ships
The Speaker of the Parliament, Yahya Ali Al-Ra’i, sent on Monday letters to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and a number of heads of parliamentary unions around the world, according to Yemen Press Agency.
The letters dealt with the repercussion of the detention of fuel ships, medicines and food products by the US Saudi-led aggression coalition, as well as the continued aggression and siege on the Yemeni people.
In the letters, the Parliament speaker indicated to the catastrophic humanitarian situation resulting from the continued detention of oil derivative ships in light of the silence of the international community.
He pointed out that thousands of children in hospitals are threatened with death in the first hours of the depletion of petroleum products, along with thousands of patients with kidney failure.
Transport, water, agriculture, health and other various vital sectors providing services to citizens are threatened with suspension in the event that their needs from oil derivatives are not available, he referred.The letters demanded that necessary measures urgently taken to release oil derivative ships in order to stop an impending and unprecedented humanitarian disaster.
