FM briefs PM on political, diplomatic developments relating to Yemeni issue
Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor met on Monday with Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf, who briefed him on the most important political and diplomatic developments related to the Yemeni issue, according to YPA.
The foreign minister touched on the political moves at the level of the Security Council and the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths during the last period.
He indicated that Sanaa continues to communicate with ambassadors of a number of countries related to the Yemeni issue to confirm the position of the Yemeni leadership, represented by the Supreme Political Council and the Salvation Government, in calling for peace and national reconciliation.
Sharaf stated that this depends on effective measures taken on the ground, as indicators of a real orientation towards a political settlement and a just peace, including the opening of air, sea and land ports, and allowing civil and commercial aviation to use Sana’a International Airport.
He affirmed that Sanaa’s position is clear and unambiguous concerning the political settlement and the steps of a just peace, which comes in the first place in response to the demands of the Yemeni people and lifting their daily suffering.
In the meeting, Dr. bin Habtoor appreciated the efforts of the Foreign Ministry and its distinguished staff, confirming that they would receive all support in a way that enhances the Ministry’s capabilities in providing its services at home and abroad.
