30 Released Fishermen from Eritrean Prisons Arrived in Hodeidah
Thirty fishermen who were held in Eritrean prisons arrived at the fish landing center in Khuba of Hodeidah governorate on Thursday, according to almasiah.
“Fishermen, whose detention period ranged between 2 to 6 months, were arrested from within Yemeni territorial waters,” said the head of the General Authority for Fisheries in the Red Sea Engineer Hashem Al-Danaei, it added.
Al-Danaei pointed out that the released fishermen were provided with the needs and means of transportation to take them to their areas, it confimed.
Eng. Al-Danaei condemned the Eritrean authorities’ attack against fishermen on the Yemeni coasts. He called on international organizations to assume legal and moral responsibility and put an end to the abusive practices against fishermen on the Yemeni coasts, that deprive them of their source of income, it stated.
For their part, the released fishermen praised the concern of the leadership of the local authority and the General Authority for Fisheries by providing them with support and assistance, it explained.
