Deputy FM meets UNHCR Resident Representative
Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister and Chairman of the National Committee for Refugees Hussein al-Ezzi has met UNHCR Resident Representative John Nicholas.
Al-Ezzi and Nicholas discussed, on Saturday’s meeting, aspects related to the role and tasks of UNHCR and an evaluation of its level of performance in Yemen.
At the meeting, al-Ezzi stressed the government’s keenness to provide all kinds of support and facilities necessary for the success of UNHCR’s work in Yemen.
He pointed to the accidental fire in the sheltering center for illegal immigrants at the Immigration and Passports Authority, stressing some international humanitarian organizations disavow their duties which will have a negative impact on the target groups.
For his part, Nicholas affirmed UNHCR’s commitment to the continued cooperation with the for Refugees as well as the full commitment to responsibility towards refugees and asylum seekers in accordance with international standards and the national laws of Yemen.
