PM discusses aspects of cooperation with the President of the ICRC
Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor on Monday praised the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)’s humanitarian interventions to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression and the siege.
This came during his meeting in Sanaa with the ICRC’s President Peter Maurer and his accompanying delegation, who is currently visiting Yemen.
In the meeting, Dr. bin Habtoor reviewed the current humanitarian situation, the great challenges faced by citizens and the nature of their humanitarian needs, especially in the health, water and environment sectors.
For his part, Maurer pointed out the extent of the suffering of the citizens that he witnessed during the visit and its repercussions on all aspects of life, especially living and health needs.
He stressed the Yemeni people’s need for a lot of support and an increase in the volume of urgent interventions, pointing to the committee’s keenness to consolidate its humanitarian role with regard to the prisoners’ file, and to support all efforts in this regard.
