Jordan closes Jaber border crossing with Syria

The Jaber border crossing between Jordan and Syria will be temporarily closed for the movement of goods and passengers as a result of the developments in the security situation on the Syrian side, Petra News Agency reported.

Jordan’s Interior Ministry announced Saturday that the Jaber border crossing with Syria had been closed due to security developments on the Syrian side.

The source added that the crossing will be reopened if the “appropriate conditions” are in place.

The Jordanian government opened the border crossing with Syria earlier this month at full capacity to traffic personnel and shipping, according to the directives from Prime Minister Bishr Khasawneh following his field visit to the crossing on July 8.
