Tawoos Meets Swedish Donor Representatives
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdulmohsen Tawoos, met today with representatives of Swedish donors headed by Adam Bergman.
The meeting,in the presence of the head of the International Cooperation Department of SCMCHA Mana’ Al-Assal, reviewed the level of progress in the conduct of some surveys and projects, including a multi-sectoral survey, and the signing of sub-agreements for special projects funded by the European Union in general and the Swedish government in particular.
In the meeting, Tawoos welcomed the Swedish delegation visiting Yemen, stressing the importance of this visit to know about the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe and the real need for development and service projects.
The Secretary-General confirmed the importance of coordination with SCMCHA regarding projects that correspond to the necessary and priority needs at the current stage, pointing out that SCMCHA provides all facilities to humanitarian partners.
He pointed to the importance of contributing to the adoption of development and sustainable projects in parallel with relief and humanitarian projects.
He indicated the importance of providing funds from the Swedish government directly to the local partner to facilitate the implementation process and reduce expenditures on projects.
In turn, the visiting delegation appreciated the efforts SCMCHA to coordinate and facilitate the work of humanitarian organizations, stressing interest in alleviating the human suffering of the Yemeni people.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department, Ali Al-Kahlani, and the Director General of UN and International Organizations, Turki Jamil.
