GOP Megadonor Says He Won’t Support Trump for 2024 Election

A top GOP megadonor says he will not support former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, citing his “pointlessly divisive,” characteristic.
Hedge fund manager Ken Griffin made the comments at the Economic Club of Chicago, Bloomberg reported.

“I think it’s time for America to move on,” Griffin said.

This is while the former president remains the most powerful figure among the Republican Party’s voters, according to official polls.

Will Trump be healthy enough for 2024 race?

The former president has already started his 2024 campaign after being dealt a loss by his Democratic contender, now-President Joe Biden.

Ever since, he has refused to concede defeat and blamed his defeat on election fraud, allegations rejected by US courts.

The billionaire businessman’s health has also been cited as a potential obstacle in the path to reelection in 2024.

“I think, going into 2024, I’m really more concerned that Donald Trump hasn’t come forward and talked about his health,” former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman told MSNBC. “I don’t know if he will even be healthy enough to run in 2024, and I think he needs to come clean to the American people about where he is on that before getting into a very stressful and strenuous race for the White House.”

This is not the first time that a Trump ally brings up the issue of the former realty TV star’s health issues.

“Everything will depend on his health at that time,” said early Trump supporter Rev. Franklin Graham earlier this year. “If he still has energy and strength like he does. I don’t… You know the guy does not eat well, you know, and it’s amazing the energy that he has.”

Some Republicans are worried that Trump’s chances of entering the 2024 could slim if the party cannot get good results in the upcoming 2022 midterm elections, suggesting that he should withhold the idea of running in the 2024 presidential election for now.

The real estate tycoon tried to overturn the 2020 election results by inciting his supporters to ransack the Capitol as American lawmakers were busy certifying Biden’s victory on Jan. 6, yet to no avail.
