Foreign Ministry condemns policy of double standards of SC

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the National Salvation Government has condemned the policy of double standards pursued by the Security Council in dealing with the issue of peace and war in Yemen.

In a statement, the Ministry confirmed that the Security Council did not provide, in its latest statement, any positive development in its policies towards the grievances of the Yemeni people, who have been facing an illegal and unjustified war of aggression for nearly seven years.

The statement indicated it is unfortunate that the Security Council continues to condemn the legitimate right of the Yemeni people to defend themselves and the sovereignty of their country, while ignoring the war crimes and crimes against humanity that they are being subjected to and systematic hostile practices by the countries of aggression, air raids on Yemeni territory on a daily basis and around the clock.

At the same time, it pointed out that the Security Council is silent about the violation of Yemen’s sovereignty, the occupation of its lands and the destruction of its infrastructure, in addition to its constant disregard for the practices of terrorist groups from al-Qaeda, ISIS, the Muslim Brotherhood and other dangerous entities that enjoy the support and backing of the countries of aggression.

The Foreign Ministry’s statement described the Security Council’s approach as lacking a minimum level of balance and fairness, which does not build confidence and does not help achieve peace as much as it encourages the other party to continue committing crimes against the Yemeni people.

It ointed out that compromising the right of the Yemeni people to defend themselves and the sovereignty of their country is unjust and completely contrary to all laws and human values and assumptions.

The statement affirmed that Sana’a’s positions are purely defensive, noting that the National Salvation Government constantly affirms its readiness to stop all forms of its defensive operations as soon as all forms of aggressive war imposed on Yemen cease, and that all its visions and demands are in line with the requirements of peace.

It said the Security Council made the mistake of talking about the siege of Abdiya district in Marib, which the Ministry strongly denies and confirms that there is absolutely no siege on the district.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded its statement by emphasizing the readiness of the national salvation government in Yemen for constructive and fruitful cooperation in everything that achieves peace and security for Yemen, the region and the world.
