‘Israel’ Concerned with Abu Dhabi Attack, Fears Similar Event
Israeli media reported concerns that “Israel” will be subjected to drone attacks similar to the Yemeni attack on sensitive sites in the UAE.
Security officials in “Israel” expressed their concern about the Yemeni drone’s attack that targeted the depth of the UAE, yesterday, in response to its participation in the Saudi-led war on Yemen.
On Tuesday, the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted an Israeli security source as saying that the source of concern stems from the possibility of a similar attack on Israeli sites using guided drones carrying explosives. The newspaper also reported that Israeli military experts contacted the military heads in the UAE offering help in the ongoing investigation into the incident, in addition to reviewing the case to benefit from lessons to thwart similar attacks in the future.
Kan: Yemenis are able to attack “Israel.”
In turn, the political affairs correspondent for the Israeli Kan channel, Gilly Cohen, said that officials in “Israel” are following what is happening in the UAE and fear a similar attack. Cohen explained that one of the scenarios really revolves around an attack by suicide drones and missiles from Yemen, at least according to “the information accumulated by Israel,” adding that what happened in Abu Dhabi is an attack reminiscent of the attack on Saudi Arabia’s Aramco.
It also indicated that the distance between Yemen and Abu Dhabi is around 1500 to 1600 km, which is approximately the same distance between Yemen and “Israel”, concluding that if the Yemeni forces have the ability to reach the point of carrying out a missile attack, it seems that they are able to do this “against us as well.”
The spokesperson of the Yemeni armed forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, revealed this morning that the missiles used in the Yemen Hurricane operation are of the Quds-2 type, pointing that the oil refinery in Mussafah and Abu Dhabi airport was targeted with 4 missiles.
Yesterday, Monday, Saree said: “the operation targeted Abu Dhabi’s airport, the oil refinery in Mussafah in Abu Dhabi, and several sites.”
The Spokesperson revealed that “the operation was carried out with five ballistic and winged missiles and a large number of drones.” He also warned that they might expand their targets to include more critical sites and facilities in the coming period.
The Yemeni Armed forces had announced earlier yesterday that they had carried out a qualitative operation in the UAE, noting that more details will be revealed later after it had previously revealed in 2019 its intention to target crucial sites in the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, in addition to dozens of other targets in the Emirates.
