YPC warning of a humanitarian catastrophe due to continued detention of fuel ships

The Yemeni Petroleum Company (YPC) warned that the situation in Yemen is deteriorating, which heralds the largest humanitarian disaster, as a result of the continued detention of fuel ships by the Saudi-led coalition forces.

The employees of the company, in a protest stand, on Tuesday, in front of the United Nations office in Sana’a, demanded all international organizations to pressure the countries of aggression to lift the siege imposed on the Yemeni people, without any legal justification, and to quickly release the detained oil derivatives ships.

In a statement issued by the protest, the company condemned the complicity of the United Nations and the international community and their shameful silence regarding the arbitrary practices of the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression coalition and its prevention of fuel ships from entering the port of Hodeidah despite obtaining UN permits.

The statement indicated that the oil ships had completed the examination and audit procedures through the mechanism of the Verification and Inspection Mission in Djibouti, and obtained UN permits.

The company added that the continuation of maritime piracy and its catastrophic repercussions were not matched by any serious and tangible action by the United Nations, as it is the international body concerned with facilitating the entry of imports of basic goods.
