The Minister of Fisheries, Muhammad Al-Zubayri, confirmed that there are large numbers of Yemeni fishermen still in arbitrary detention in Eritrea, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Al-Zubairi explained to Al Masirah TV that the ministry has documented reports of the exploitation of Yemeni fishermen for forced labor on the island of Fatima, and the Eritreans are doing so under the directives of the Emiratis and the coalition of aggression.
On the 30th of last October, the General Authority for Fisheries in the Red Sea received 69 fishermen who were detained in the prisons of the Eritrean authorities. The returning fishermen were kidnapped by members of the Eritrean Navy from the international stream or Yemeni territorial waters, and their detention periods varied from one month to 4 months, they all spent hard work.
According to the testimony of the fishermen, they were tortured and were only given one meal per day, which is not suitable for a human being.
