Transport Minister meets UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs
Transport Minister, Abdul-Wahhab Al-Durra discussed here on Monday with United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen David Gressly the reasons for the delay in the implementation of the projects of Hodeida port and the two airports of Sana’a and Hodeida provinces.
The meeting reviewed the necessary needs of the projects that the United Nations Development Program has committed to and has not yet been implemented, especially the projects to rehabilitate Hodeida sea port in accordance with the Stockholm Agreement 2018.
The meeting touched on other projects, including providing equipment and devices for Sana’a International Airport and rehabilitating Hodeida International Airport, which the United Nations Development Program has committed to implement in coordination with the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation.
Minister Al-Durra stressed the need to start implementing the plan to replace the floating tank Safer without delay, in order to avoid any catastrophic repercussions on the marine environment and the region.
While Gressly affirmed the United Nations Development Program’s keenness to implement the rehabilitation projects for Hodeida sea port and the airports of Sana’a and Hodeida, which are vital facilities to serve the Yemeni people, in addition to its commitment to implement the plan to replace the floating Safer reservoir.
