Dhamar governor inspects the project to produce one million, 300 thousand grape, fig seedlings
The Governor of Dhamar, Muhammad Al-Bukhaiti, was briefed Wednesday on the final arrangements for the project of supplying one million and 300 thousand grape and fig seedlings in the nurseries of the Agriculture and Irrigation Office in Rasaba and Haran Garden, which will be planted during the current agricultural season.
During the visit, Governor Al-Bukhaiti pointed out the importance of the project, through which grape and fig seedlings will be grown using the intercropping method, and comprehensive farms within the plan of the local authority and the Agriculture and Irrigation Office.
He pointed to the benefits of inter-cropping of grapes and figs in qat farms and others in exploiting spaces, benefiting from water, and expanding the cultivation of cash crops with economic returns.
He urged interaction with the project and its success, in addition to expanding the cultivation of Sidr trees in all districts, stressing that this year’s season will witness a quantum leap in the agricultural aspect.
The Director of the Agriculture and Irrigation Office, Dr. Adel Omar, gave an explanation of the components of the project and the arrangements to start planting grape and fig seedlings in the appropriate districts.
He explained that the project is being implemented by the Agriculture Office under the supervision and follow-up of the local authority and the financing of the executive unit for agricultural projects, pointing out that more than 300,000 Sidr seedlings have been prepared in the office’s nurseries and will be distributed in all districts with the aim of increasing the areas for beekeeping.
He praised the interest of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Supreme Agricultural Committee and the local authority in expanding agricultural areas and supporting the efforts of the office and the executive unit in implementing the grape and fig cultivation project.
