The Ministry of Fisheries condemned in the strongest terms the action of one of the aggression’s ships for throwing hundreds of tons of waste into the waters of the Gulf of Aden.
The ministry stated in a statement that it had received reports from fishermen and fish cooperative societies in Aden and Abyan that a ship belonging to the aggression had dumped hundreds of tons of waste, most of which were organic dead livestock, in the Gulf of Aden, specifically in the stream between Aden and Shaqra Abyan.
The ministry revealed that many dead livestock floated in the coasts along the area from Ras Al-Ara in Lahj governorate to Ahwar in Abyan governorate, which poses a great threat to public health and the marine environment.
It emphasized that the pollution of Yemeni waters with waste thrown by commercial and international ships is an irresponsible act that causes the destruction of the Yemeni marine environment, and leads to harm to marine life and fishermen.
