Yemeni Center for Human Rights condemns burning of Holy Quran

The Yemeni Center for Human Rights condemned the crime of burning the Holy Qur’an in Sweden and Denmark as part of the systematic abuse campaigns targeting Islamic sanctities and symbols and the clear tendency of some Western governments to spread religious hatred in the world.

In a statement, the center expressed its support for the UN Human Rights Council’s decision on July 12, 2023 to condemn acts of religious hatred such as burning the Qur’an, considering it a positive step towards stopping the targeting and infringement of religious sanctities under the pretext of freedom of expression.

The center called for the Swedish government to be held accountable internationally and hold it accountable for its support for the burning of the Holy Quran and its participation in giving permits and police protection for the perpetrators of this crime.

He called on Arab and Islamic governments to criminalize these shameful policies and actions against humanity and the international community, which are dangerous to international peace and security.
