The Shura Council condemned the crime of burning a copy of the Holy Quran by an extremist in front of the Libyan embassy in the Danish capital, Copenhagen.

In a statement, the Council indicated that the repeated extremist acts that incite hatred and strife between religions are being repeated without deterrence, which encouraged their continuation in clear violation of the rules of international law regulating human rights and rejected by all religions and international norms.

The Council strongly deplored the Danish government’s standing behind anti-Islam extremists, which leaves no room for doubt that they are non-individual acts resulting from the policy of submission, humiliation, and the shameful normalization of some Arab regimes with countries hostile to Islam.

The council expressed its regret and dissatisfaction with the irresponsible behavior of the mercenary government in hosting the Swedish ambassador and his companions in Aden, and their indifference to what the sinful and extremist hands in Sweden committed by burning copies of the Holy Quran.

It demanded that the Arab and Islamic world quickly take unified positions that go beyond the language of condemnation and denunciation, and put an end to all lax positions and move immediately and urgently towards economic boycott and severing diplomatic relations with countries that offend Islam and Muslims.

The Council also called on the United Nations, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and all international and regional organizations to emphasize respect for the religious sanctities of peoples, to stop insulting Islam and Muslims, and to criminalize them as crimes that embody hatred and incitement and have negative effects that harm international peace and security.
