Private sources confirmed to Al Masirah satellite channel, today, Sunday, that the World Food Program requested, a few days ago, the official authorities in Sanaa to sign its recent decision to reduce its aid in Yemen.

The sources explained that the program’s insistence on the signature of official authorities was rejected because it involved suspicious agendas, including misleading beneficiaries about who was behind the reduction in aid.

The sources revealed that reducing global food aid comes as part of American pressure to restrict the Yemeni people and exacerbate their living suffering. They explained that reducing World Food Program aid will deprive nearly half a million families, the majority of whom are women and children suffering from malnutrition.

The Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation had warned a few days ago of the catastrophic consequences of continuing to reduce humanitarian aid, on the lives of millions of those affected, and the exacerbation of the worst humanitarian suffering in the world, which the Yemeni people have been experiencing as a result of the aggression and siege for nine years.

It also warned of the catastrophic consequences of reducing aid on the lives of millions of those affected, and the worsening humanitarian and economic conditions in the country, amid high rates of hunger and malnutrition, especially for the most vulnerable groups such as children, women, pregnant women, and the elderly.

The Council called on donors and the United Nations to mobilize funds and fulfill their obligations towards the Yemeni people by providing aid to millions of those affected in Yemen to contribute to alleviate human suffering, and not to impose more restrictions on the Yemeni people.
