The Ministry of Fisheries strongly condemned the attacks and destruction of fish wealth and coral reefs by foreign commercial ships.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the ministry denounced the recent involvement of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the mercenary government in allowing Chinese ships to fish in Yemeni waters illegally and in violation.
It confirmed the presence of an illegal Chinese fishing fleet equipped with high technology, fuel ships, refrigerated fishing and transport boats, and others for supply and camouflage, working to catch and dredge stocks of squid and other types of fish and marine creatures in the Sea of Oman, the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The statement warned of the consequences of illegal Chinese fishing operations that may lead to deprive Yemen of its wealth and the sharp decline of fish and their non-reproduction and some rare species in Yemeni territorial waters.
This was considered a real threat to livelihoods and fish stocks because it causes the erosion of coral reefs and the death of quantities of fish and marine organisms.
