Two Palestinian bodies concerned with prisoners’ affairs said on Sunday that “Israel” is arresting 24 children from the Gaza Strip in Megiddo Prison (north), out of about 200 Palestinian children in its prisons.
This came in a joint statement by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Authority (governmental) and the Prisoners’ Club (non-governmental), based on a recent visit by its lawyers to a number of children detained in Megiddo Prison (north).
The statement said that the total number of children detained in Megiddo prison “reached 94, including 24 children from Gaza, who were detained in two rooms.”
It stated that the total number of child prisoners in various prisons is 200, including more than 40 children in administrative detention, while the number of arrests among children from the West Bank after the seventh of last October reached about 500.
Administrative detention; A detention order issued by an Israeli military order on the grounds of a security threat, without filing an indictment, for a period of 6 months, which can be extended.
