Today, Friday, France witnessed student protests in front of the University of Political Sciences in Paris and Lyon, denouncing the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

The French police beat a number of protesting students in front of the University of Political Sciences in Paris, and tried to disperse the protesters by force.

The French government commented on the university protests, saying that “requests were submitted by university presidents, and law enforcement forces intervened immediately.”

It added that Prime Minister Gabriel Attal requested intervention at the request of the director of university institutes, stressing that “the firmness was and will remain complete.”

The wave of student protests has been escalating for two weeks in the United States of America and several European countries in support of occupied Palestine and denouncing the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

Dozens of pro-Palestinian students and activists in Mexico City (the federal capital of Mexico) set up tents in front of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the largest university in the country, in solidarity with the student protesters in the United States.

And in Switzerland, where dozens of pro-Palestinian students took over a hall in the lobby of a building affiliated with the University of Lausanne, demanding an academic boycott of Israeli institutions and an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, according to the Keystone-ATS news agency.

The organizers said in a statement that the movement “follows the example of mobilization on universities in Canada, the United States and France.”

In the United States, the tension between the administration of Columbia University and the students protesting the Israeli aggression on Gaza reached the point where dozens of New York Police personnel entered the university campus to remove a protest camp and arrest demonstrators who took control of one of the school buildings.

This was the second time in two weeks that the university administration called on the police to control the protests.

The administration prevented students from entering their classrooms and threatened them with expulsion from the university. Police are now stationed around the clock on campus.
