UNRWA: Conflict in Gaza Continues to Be ‘War on Women’

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated that the ongoing Israeli war in Gaza persists as a direct assault on women.

“The war in Gaza continues to be a war on women,” UNRWA said in a press statement posted on its social media platform X, adding that more than 10,000 women have been killed and 19,000 others injured in the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza.

According to the statement, the conflict’s toll extends to 37 children losing their mothers daily amidst the protracted hostilities, now entering its seventh month.

Furthermore, the agency highlighted dire conditions, noting that 155,000 pregnant or breastfeeding women face severe constraints in accessing water and sanitary necessities.

Israel initiated its offensive on Gaza on October 7 following actions by the Palestinian Hamas resistance group in response to Israeli provocations against Palestinians.

Additionally, the Tel Aviv regime has imposed a severe blockade on the territory, severely limiting access to fuel, electricity, food, and water for the more than two million Palestinians residing there.

The Gaza Health Ministry has reported a devastating toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression, with 34,654 individuals confirmed deceased and 77,908 injured over the past 206 days.
