China condemns the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Iran

China condemned, on Wednesday, the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in a strike in Tehran, warning that this could lead to “further instability in the regional situation.”
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said, “We are deeply concerned about the incident and strongly oppose and condemn the assassination.”
He added, “We are deeply concerned that this incident will lead to further instability in the regional situation… China has always called for resolving regional disputes through negotiation and dialogue.”
Lin said, “A comprehensive and permanent ceasefire must be declared as soon as possible in Gaza to avoid further escalation of the conflict and confrontation.”
He stressed that China is one of the most prominent supporters of the Palestinian cause and recognizes the State of Palestine.
