Fearing it could be used in the war on Gaza, Namibian demands to prevent a ship heading to “Israel” from docking

The Namibian human rights organization “Economic and Social Justice” has called for the MV Katharine ship to be prevented from entering the country’s port of “Nampoort”.
In an open letter addressed to the CEO of the Namibian Ports Authority “Nampoort”, Andrew Kanemi, the head of the “Economic and Social Justice” organization, Herbert Gooch, expressed his concern that “the MV Katharine ship, which is scheduled to dock in Walvis Bay, may be carrying goods intended for use in the ongoing war between Israel and Gaza”, according to his expression.
Gooch cited a similar incident that occurred last July, saying that the ship “MV Nordic” was said to have transported military supplies “from India to Israel via the port of Walvis Bay”, calling on the management of the port of “Nampoort” to act in accordance with Namibia’s obligations to prevent and not be complicit in genocide.
“By allowing a ship carrying munitions and equipment that could potentially be used to commit genocide to dock at any Namibian port, Nampoort could be making itself and the country complicit in genocide,” Gooch said.
“Namibia should never be complicit in genocide,” he stressed, reiterating its international obligations as a “signatory to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.”
