Lebanese Minister of Health, Firas al-Abyad, announced today, Wednesday, that the death toll by the Zionist aggression on Lebanon has reached 4,047 martyrs and 16,638 wounded.
Al-Abyad said in a press conference: “Before September 15, 645 martyrs and 1,983 wounded fell, and after September 15, 3,402 martyrs and 14,655 wounded fell, meaning the final toll so far is 4,047 martyrs and 16,638 wounded.”
He added: “These numbers are based on the information we have received from several sources. The real numbers are higher because there are martyrs and we do not know about them and some of them are still under the rubble.”
He explained that “among the martyrs and wounded who fell, it is important to mention children, and this was a characteristic of targeting civilians.”
Al-Abyad continued: “Before September 15, 26 children were killed as a result of the attacks, after September 15, 290 children were killed, the final tally of child martyrs reached 316
martyrs.
As for the wounded, 197 children were wounded before September 15, and 1259 after September 15, so the total number of wounded children was 1456.”
The Lebanese Minister of Health added: “As for women, before September 15, 40 women were martyred, and after it 750 women fell, so the total number of female martyrs was 790 martyrs, as for the number of wounded women, the total was 3357 (304 before September 15 and 2263 after it).”
Al-Abyad also said, “The attacks on the health sector were also a feature of the aggression,” noting that “some media reports tried to portray these attacks as if they were side attacks, but the numbers confirm that they were direct attacks on the health sector and part of the enemy’s attempt to undermine the steadfastness of this sector.”
He explained that “the attacks targeted 67 hospitals, 40 of which were directly targeted, and 7 of which were forcibly closed, namely: Bint Jbeil, Salah Ghandour, Marjeyoun, Mays al-Jabal Mortada, Bahman, and al-Burj hospitals,” noting that “16 martyrs and 73 wounded fell in these hospitals, and 25 vehicles were targeted.”
Al-Abyad added, “The ambulance associations bore the brunt of the attacks: 238 attacks, 206 martyrs and 257 wounded,” explaining that “the ratio of martyrs to wounded is 50 percent, which confirms that what is happening is a targeting and not a mistake.”
He pointed out that the Zionist enemy “targeted 256 vehicles, including 60 fire engines, 177 ambulances, and 16 rescue vehicles.
The attacks on primary health care centers also led to the closure of 56 centers, 33 of which were completely damaged,” stressing that “the final toll of the attacks on the health sector reached 222 martyrs and 330 wounded.”
