Al-Barash: We cannot retrieve the bodies of the martyrs in northern Gaza and they are being devoured by dogs

The Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, Dr. Munir Al-Barash, said that the bodies of the martyrs, especially in the northern areas of the Strip, are lying in the streets and are being devoured by dogs, stressing that all medical teams and civil defense are unable to reach them and retrieve them due to the Israeli enemy’s threat to kill anyone who reaches them.

Al-Barash confirmed, in media statements today, Wednesday, that the aggression on the Gaza Strip revealed the ugly and criminal face of the Israeli occupation ,explaining that the ongoing aggression on the northern Gaza Strip during the past 60 days has left more than 4,000 martyrs and missing according to what has been counted so far and the number is expected to increase.

Al-Barash indicated that the Israeli enemy forces opened fire on ambulances that tried to rescue the wounded and retrieve the martyrs from the targeted areas, stressing that the Israeli enemy refuses to bring in medicine and medical supplies.

He stressed the need for international action and international organizations to oblige the Israeli enemy not to target medical teams and humanitarian corridors, and to ensure their protection in accordance with international humanitarian charters and laws.

Al-Barsh called for the need to bring in specialized Arab and foreign medical teams for critical cases, especially in the northern regions.

In turn, the spokesman for the Palestinian Civil Defense Authority, Mahmoud Basal, said that dozens of people trapped under the rubble of their destroyed homes were martyred, and could have been saved due to the inability of rescue teams to respond to their calls for help in light of the weak capabilities available and the continuation of the Israeli war of extermination in the northern Gaza Strip.

Basal explained in press statements today, Wednesday, that the Israeli enemy deliberately targets inhabited homes with their residents in the northern Gaza Strip in an attempt to commit crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians.

He added that rescue teams receive daily calls for help from injured citizens trapped under the rubble of their homes in the northern Gaza Strip, but the Civil Defense teams cannot reach them due to being out of service and the cessation of response to humanitarian missions due to targeting, which often causes an increase in the number of victims according to “Sand Agency”.

He pointed out that there are dozens of bodies still lying in the streets and under the rubble of houses in the northern Gaza Strip, and no one can reach them and bury them, stressing that the current Israeli escalation shows the extent of the humanitarian challenges facing their work, as there is no security, no equipment, and no infrastructure.
