UN: One Million Children in Gaza Strip Need Psychological Support

The United Nations said that one million children in the Gaza Strip need psychological and social support due to “depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts” resulting from the genocide committed by “Israel” against the Palestinians for about 15 months.
Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher added, “Over the course of 15 months in Gaza, children have been killed, left to starve, and died from the cold.”
He pointed out that according to estimates, there are more than 17,000 children in Gaza living away from their families.
He stated that about 150,000 pregnant women and new mothers are in dire need of health services, and that some newborns die with their mothers during childbirth before they take their first breath.
He explained that children in Gaza are losing their schools and education, and that those with chronic diseases face difficulty in obtaining the care they need.
He continued, “According to the United Nations Children’s Fund, one million children need psychosocial support due to depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.
An entire generation has been traumatized.” He added, “Following the ceasefire in Gaza, the United Nations has greatly improved its activities, as humanitarian aid is now available safely and without hindrance.”
He stressed that a joint effort is needed to deliver large amounts of aid to Gaza. He stressed that the children of Gaza are not “collateral damage” of the war, and that they deserve safety, education and hope just like children around the world.
He said, “They believe that the world was not by their side during this war.We must be by their side now.”
With American support, the Zionist enemy army committed genocide in Gaza between October 7, 2023, and January 19, 2025, leaving more than 158,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 14,000 missing.
