The Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza Mr. Yousef Abu al-Rish, confirmed today, Sunday, that 59% of essential medicines and 37% of medical supplies in Gaza Strip hospitals are out of stock.

For the 34th consecutive day, the Zionist enemy’s “army” continues to close the crossings and border outlets, preventing the entry of humanitarian supplies, including medical supplies, into the Strip, as part of its policy of war of extermination against the Palestinians.

During his meeting with the Acting Humanitarian Coordinator, Ms. Suzana Tkalcic, Mr. Abu al-Rish said: “The health and humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has reached dangerous and catastrophic levels, and the continued closure of the crossings exacerbates the health conditions of hundreds of patients and wounded awaiting travel abroad for treatment.”

The Undersecretary of the Ministry added that 13,000 medical cases need to leave the Gaza Strip for specialized treatment, explaining that “the prevention of food supplies threatens food security and increases the risk of child deaths due to malnutrition and anemia.”

He pointed out that 52 child deaths due to malnutrition were recorded during the war, adding, “We are facing new numbers unless food supplies are allowed in.”

Abu al-Rish noted that Gaza hospitals are in dire need of oxygen stations to enable vital departments to continue providing medical care to the wounded and sick.

He continued, “Health services depend on generators, which are threatened with disruption due to shortages of fuel, spare parts, oils, and filters.”

Due to the lack of diagnostic medical equipment, many emergency interventions cannot be completed, according to the Undersecretary.

He also emphasized that “the direct targeting of ambulance crews and humanitarian teams constitutes a major obstacle to efforts to evacuate the wounded and injured.”

He pointed out that the disruption of water lines increases health and environmental risks and the spread of diarrhea and skin diseases. About 16 out of 52 primary care centers are completely out of service according to Abu Al-Rish.
