Josep Borrell, the former High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, confirmed on Sunday that the EU is beginning to believe that there are serious indications of Israel's non-compliance with international humanitarian law, in light of its ongoing bloody attacks on the Gaza Strip, which are approaching their nineteenth month amid unprecedented destruction and catastrophic humanitarian suffering.

Borrell said in a tweet posted on X platform, "The European Union has begun to believe that there are indications that Israel is not complying with international humanitarian law, after conducting a careful assessment and the death toll in Gaza has reached unprecedented levels."

In previous statements during a conference held in the Spanish capital, Madrid, last week, Borrell described what is happening in Gaza as a "massacre," holding the European Union responsible for what he described as "passive silence and inaction regarding the ongoing violations."

These statements come at a time of mounting European and international criticism of Israeli practices, amid growing pressure on Western capitals to review their positions and reconsider their unconditional military and political support for Tel Aviv.
