Israel’s minister for military affairs, Israel Katz, says he has ordered “intense strikes” against Iran, immediately after the cessation of aggression after 12 days.
Hours after the regime said it would cease its aggression against Iran as part of a deal it reached with US President Donald Trump, Katz said on Tuesday morning that he had instructed the Israeli military to “respond forcefully” to what he claimed to be Iran’s violation of the ceasefire with strikes against targets in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The claim that Iran breached the ceasefire has already been debunked by Iranian sources.
It came hours after Iranian armed forces fired almost a dozen missiles towards different targets in the occupied territories as part of retaliatory strikes just before the cessation of Israeli aggression, as announced by Trump.
Those retaliatory strikes came in response to heavy overnight Israeli aggression against Iran, particularly on Tehran where many civilian areas were targeted.
The Israeli regime had asked to end the war and agreed to halt its aggression against Iran.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said there was currently no truce agreement with Tel Aviv, but Tehran would halt its retaliatory attacks “provided that the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people.”
He also thanked the country’s armed forces for “punishing” the regime.
On June 13, Israel launched a blatant aggression against Iran, killing military commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary civilians.
On June 22, the United States joined the Israeli regime in the assault and bombed three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
The Iranian armed forces promised to “open the gates of hell” to Israel and began waves of punitive missile and drone strikes on sensitive sites across the occupied territories.
A day later, Iran launched a wave of missiles at al-Udeid air base in Qatar — the largest American military base in West Asia.
In a statement following the successful retaliatory operation codenamed 'Tidings of Victory', Iranian armed forces said it came in response to the “blatant military aggression by the criminal regime of the United States” against the nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic.
This base serves as the headquarters of the US Air Force Command and represents the most strategic asset of the American military in West Asia.
