The World Food Programme announced on Wednesday that only 9,000 tons of food aid have been sent to the Gaza Strip since May 19.

This is an amount "less than the food required for one day" for the Strip's residents, given the ongoing Zionist genocide since October 7, 2023.

The UN programme stated in a post on  "X" platform that this aid is "less than the amount of food required for one day, not for a month" for the entire population of the Strip.

The programme explained that it is "ready to expand its work" in the besieged Strip.

It added: "We need access and better conditions to carry out our work safely."

The WFP stressed that "the time has come to act."
Since March 2, the Zionist enemy has tightly closed the Gaza Strip crossings to trucks carrying supplies and aid, which have been piling up at the border.

The Zionist enemy has only allowed a limited number of aid trucks to enter through Kerem Shalom crossing, which is under its control east of Rafah. Palestinians in Gaza need at least 500 trucks per day.

Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist enemy, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and displacement, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.

The genocide has left approximately 188,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them women and children, and more than 11,000 missing. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, and famine has claimed the lives of many, including children, as well as widespread destruction.
