Israeli airstrikes and other actions continued across southern Lebanon, resulting in injuries to ten people, including a child, according to Lebanese Ministry of Health. These incidents are seen as ongoing violations of Lebanese sovereignty, the ceasefire agreement, and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
Israeli warplanes intensified their assaults last night, launching an airstrike on the rugged outskirts of Bodai in western Baalbek District, then conducting two more strikes on the highland areas near Flawi in the same region.
Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported a violent airstrike by Israeli warplanes on the Zrarieh-Rzay Valley in southern Lebanon.
Separately, NNA reported that the Israeli occupation military carried out a “sweep operation” using machine guns on Sunday evening on the outskirts of Kfar Kila. An Israeli helicopter also reportedly dropped a sound bomb on the southern town of Maroun al-Ras on Sunday evening. The agency added that an Israeli position in Tallet al-Hamames was targeting the Khiyam plain with machine guns.
The Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health confirmed injuries from the strikes. A statement Monday morning announced that the raid on Burj Rahal in the Tyre district resulted in nine citizens being injured. The strike on the town of Zrarieh in the Sidon district seriously injured a child, who required admission to intensive care.
These continued Israeli actions against Lebanese territory are raising questions about the effectiveness of diplomatic efforts to protect Lebanon and are viewed as undermining the credibility of so-called “American guarantees.”
