Five children were martyred on Friday in Taiz governorate after an artillery shell was fired by militias affiliated with the Islah Party, which is aligned with the US-Saudi aggression coalition. The shell struck the al-Arsoum area in Jabal al-Habil, within the al-Hashmah region of al-Taezeyah district.
A local source told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the Islah-affiliated mercenaries deliberately targeted the residential area, killing five innocent children in what can only be described as a brutal and cowardly act of aggression.
Medical sources confirmed that the victims’ bodies arrived at al-Refai Hospital around 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The children were identified as:
-
Mubarak Yasser Ali Ahmed Ghaleb al-Sharabi, a 14-year-old
-
Osama Abu Bakr Ahmed Ali, a 12-year-old
-
Bashir Akram Ahmed Ghaleb, a 12-year-old
-
Ahmed Ali Muqbil Abdullah Al-Atmi, a 12-year-old
-
Anas Jawad Mohammed Saleh, a 14-year-old
The heinous attack sparked widespread outrage and condemnation throughout Taiz and across Yemen. It is yet another entry in the long record of war crimes committed by the aggression's mercenaries, who have shown a blatant disregard for civilian life—particularly women and children—by routinely shelling populated neighborhoods.
The occupied areas of Taiz remain gripped by lawlessness, marked by escalating violence between Islah militias and rival armed groups. Amid this chaos, civilians are trapped in deteriorating living conditions, collapsing public services, and a complete absence of safety and stability.
